A ShutterBug Explores ~ ABC Wednesday (H)

'If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform
one million realities.'
~ Maya Angelou

H for House on Cape Ann MA beach.

Sadly this used to be my dream house before it was torn
down to build a rather modern house. Every thing
seems to be losing 'its character' being replaced by
cold modern McMansions ~ I am not impressed.
The coastline is being eroded ever so gradually and
my son is constantly reminding me of the
encroaching shorelines ~ especially where he
lives in the South and near barrier islands.
(Am still seeking a place down South to
have a small place to replace my dream house.
Wish me luck ~ am going to need it, probably.)

On that note, I only have a photo, now, of
my dream house. C'est la vie.

  4. It’s a beautiful beach house and sad to know it’s torn down! I think the shorelines everywhere are encroached

  5. As one who is currently building a new house, I can't complain about new houses. But I do think people can do more (like we are) to build houses that fit with the character of the surroundings .... I think landscaping can also go a long way to 'hide' the sameness of neighborhoods chock full of McMansions. Sorry your dream house went the way of the dodo ...

  6. And the McMansions totally lack character.

  7. This is just the kind of house hubby and I love-charming, it has history, and is unassuming. I hope you find your next dream home near your son. I bet it's already there just waiting for you:)

  8. Oh Carol, I so agree with you about houses not having any character any more. So much sameness is so boring. Huge too. Why does one need a house so large?
I hope you find your dream home, close enough to the water but not close enough that the water will come into your dream home.
