A ShutterBug Explores ~ Saturday Critters

'As a body, everyone is single; as a soul never.'
~ Hermann Hesse

Due to raccoon invastion in our neighborhood on Cape Ann MA ~
I have had to take down the bird seed feeder ~ Hoping the suet feeders
will attract some birds  and will be okay along with the thistle ~
which don't leave seed droppings ~ I was enjoying the backyard birds.

2020 is just not a very good year in so many ways. Gratefully, I found Angel
and she will keep me company now that I won't have bird visitors or Zoe.

I love your comments, Thank you.

  1. Awww, that's too bad about the bird feeder. We hope it can go back up soon.

Pesky pests! Birds will still be around - just not as conveniently as they have been. YAM xx

  4. Shame you've had to take down your bird seed feeder.
I'm sure the suet feeders will be ok though, I do hope so.

    Take care, enjoy Angels company.
    My good wishes.

    All the best Jan

  6. Hopefully you can put it back up later. When we lived in the mts of NC...we had ours out during the day and brought it in every evening...because of bears. Hugs!

  7. Beautiful Angel. I'm glad you have her. Without food, the raccoons should eventually move on, hopefully before winter.

  8. We have not had raccoons yet in our neighborhood but the squirrels eat lots more than the birds out of our feeders. We don't care too much about that though.

  9. I love racoons, but they can ruin it for all the other sweet creatures. I'm sure the suet and thistle will please the birds. Have a wonderful weekend with your sweet Angel.

  10. There are squirrel proof bird feeders, it just takes a bit of ingenuity. Hope you can find something that will help with that.

  11. While raccoons are a beloved entertaining bit of wildlife they can become pests. They also carry disease that is harmful to pets and humans. I hate to say this but they will eat suet too. Hopefully they will work their way through your neighborhood and find better feeding areas away from your area.
You and Angel are so lucky to have found one another. I can't wait to read about your adventures together. Cheers.

  12. Dear Carol. Sad that you don't have a bird feeder. Do you have another little furbaby? Angel? IS she yours or are you fostering her? Jo

  14. I’m sorry you had to remove bird seed feeder. I hope raccoons will move out after a while then you can put up seed feeder again. Birdie in your photo is very cute :-)

  15. I'm thinking about taking down my seed feeder because of a greedy Steller's Jay. I do have one suet block. Maybe that would be good to use instead for my Song Sparrow. - Margy

  16. I don't know much about raccoos, I'm guessing they can be pests like possoms that we have here. haven't tried suet either for the bird feeder but will give it a go.
