~ HUGS & KISSES ~
This painting is a small 3 x 3 done with pen and ink and Intense watercolor pencils. I have added rivets to it and a ribbon so that it can be hung on a wall.
What is neat about this particular "painting" is that it originated from having practiced a very meditative approach to creating. This method is call Zentangles and is actually a company located in MA in Whitinsville that created this concept as one way to provide methods to enhance your creativity. Zentangles are really done in black and white. Once I started the process of doing "Zentangles" my ideas began to sky rocket and thus, my journal is filled with zentangles. This particular one is my first colored one & will probably make a few more to hopefully sell at a local women's club.
I digress ~ My purpose in posting this picture is to share how wonderfully calming and relaxing it is to use this method. I meditate regularly, belong to a meditation group and also interact with a group on Course in Miracles. To have "Zentangles" come into my life is no coincidence. I love to create, have and continue to experiment in different mediums and basically felt I was a "Mixed Media" artist. I suppose I do work with several mediums at once but I also do one mode at a time. Now, I have come "full circle" as they say and have come back to where I had started several years ago ~ pastels and then pen and ink.
I wanted to share this concept with you because Zentangles is method that not only provides practice and freedom to create; it also gets deep into my soul ~ a deep diving to the "treasures within" me. When I am doing zentangles, I very quickly become centered and focused. When I have finished, the feeling is very similiar to a fifteen minute meditation ~ only doing art! What a gift!
Hugs and namaste,
Carol ~
I love working with pastels -- the pictures are so calming, but then I adore the impressionists. Your work is wonderful. Didn't know about this blog. Blessings, Janet
