Falling Flowers ~ for Paint Party Friday and Creative Everyday

Welcome to A Creative Harbor's Friday and Saturday post. Per usual it is composed of art work, poetry and photography. Those three areas of creativity seem to keep my 'mojo' going. Didn't realize the pitcher of flowers looked like it was falling off the table until I took the photo. Could have fixed it but felt it was rather whimsical for a grey, snowy and rainy day. Also, I had completely forgotten about this local art class that I was interested in back in October 2012. When, just last week I got a call that there was an opening and would I like to join. Of course, I said yes and this is the result. I did another but will post it later. What is unique to this painting is the teacher introduced me to painting with a tree twig with India ink. I have always struggled with getting my darks in a painting so this technique seems to work for me. The ink was put in after the initial painting for emphasis and helped the painting to 'pop.'  Love learning new 'tricks' . Who says old dogs can not learn new tricks? Hmmmm? Don't believe any of it. ^_^

  20. We can always learn new tricks!! I've never tried painting with a twig but it sounds like a lot of fun. Would definately open new and creative avenues in the brain by taking away any thoughts of controling things. have fun in your class. Can't wait to see more goodness that results from it. Lovely painting this week. happy PPF

  22. Carol, you are so willing to try new techniques. This is gorgeous. I have a book by an artist who does pen and ink and watercolors. Most of her works have some pen work in them. Sometimes after I have done watercolors, especially of flowers, I feel that they need the black pen. (Never have tried a piece of a tree twig, though!) Thanks for the get well wishes. I finally went to the real doctor to get his opinion and it is a very tight ligament. It is a minor injury gotten by moving heavy furniture around.

  50. What an inspirational idea to paint with a tree twig and indian ink! I want to try now. There's something very pleasing about using ink, it produces such strong colour. I am very impressed with the painting you did - it is beautiful and has a dreamy quality to it that I love.

Wishing you a happy & creative weekend! Oh and if you get chance a few of us are having a blog party with giveaway and showing of our art journal swap results. If you start at my blog the links to everyone else are also there. Should be a visual delight :-)
